Story
A farming family in Montana faces others encroaching on their land. Forry J.
It’s basically mob wars in Montana with occasional massive doses of testosterone (cowboys with guns on horses while fishing)!
John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to have "forgotten" his Montanan accent and shifts back to the SoCal speaking voice he normally uses. (Review is for the first two seasons only) I came into this show not expecting to like it, but the plot, acting and cinematography are great.
Costner is a brilliant actor in the lead role of The Duttons
The show is at its best when it sees the chessboard moving the Duttons and their enemies. The show gets heavy at the beginning of the second season, but picks up again halfway through.
Thomas Rainwater is also great
Kelsey Asbill is the weakest link as Monica and plays the bad hand badly, the storyline is clumsily thrown away and the acting just lacks the scenes that Rip was in. Like Cormac McCarthy’s "All The Pretty Horses" was a little more raw and brutal than the title suggests, this show is similar.
